Celebrating the Indigenous Food & Culture of our Region

Join us on Monday, Oct. 9th from 3-7pm at beautiful Mariquita Farm in Watsonville for a journey into the Indigenous Culture and food of our region in celebration of Indigenous Peoples Day. Our journey begins with a tour of the farm where owners Andy Griffin & Starr Linden will guide us in their approach to growing Milpas and numerous Latin cuisine ingredients they sell to restaurants in the Bay Area. Chef Bridgette Anderson owner of the Free Spirit Kitchen will be curating our culinary journey with seasonal produce from the farm and our region to showcase the cultural heritage of our area in the most delicious way!

Special guest artist Juan Fuentas who did the graphic for this years Open Farm Tours will talk about growing up in the Watsonville area during the 50s & 60s where his family worked at many of the areas farms.

All activities take place outdoors on the farm. Wear comfortable shoes and dress in layers since the evening temperatures can be cooler. Parking is limited & people are encouraged to carpool.

This event is sponsored by Edible Monterey Bay Magazine, celebrating the food & drink of Santa Cruz, Monterey & San Benito Counties.
