Silvia Prevedelli

Silvia Prevedelli arrived in America from Italy in 1966, stepping into the world of farming to support her husband, Frank.

With no prior experience, she began working on their farm, which initially focused on apples, plums, and vegetables. Over the years, Silvia has embraced every aspect of farm life and has shifted towards organic farming methods inspired by her Italian roots. Her passion for nature has transformed their operation from selling to wholesalers to farmer’s markets, making their family farm a thriving organic business.

Today, Silvia and her family sell a variety of products, including apples, fruits, vegetables, and homemade jams at over ten farmers markets across the Bay Area and beyond. Her commitment to farming extends beyond her own farm; she actively participates in various organizations that support the agricultural community.

Silvia’s involvement includes roles on the Down to Earth Women Committee, as a director for the Santa Cruz County Farm Bureau, and as vice president of the Sons of Italy. Silvia received the prestigious title of Santa Cruz County Farm Bureau Farmer of the Year in 2018, along with being honored as the Agricultural Woman of the Year for Monterey, Santa Cruz, and San Benito Counties by Ag Against Hunger in 2019.

Silvia believes in continuous growth and learning, often sharing her favorite sayings:

“If you want to stay on top, always look for something new to diversify yourself,” and,
“No matter how long you are in farming, you are always learning.”

Her dedication to her craft and community reflects her deep-rooted passion for farming and the connections it fosters.
