DeerBrook Farms
DeerBrook Farms is a 5.5 acre Lavender Farm that was established in 2019 by Rosie Fry. The Herschbach family name has a history of farming in the Corralitos Valley for 3 generations. Rosie’s grandparents, Robert and Ethel Herschbach, were renown breeders raising over 38 different breeds of rabbits. Rosie’s parents, Rosmarie and Delbert Herschbach were renown fresh, dried and preserved flower growers. Rosie settled on growing lavender not only for her love of it but for its deer and gopher resistance plus drought tolerance.
Rosie also has a passion for pollinator education and protection plus plastic reduction through education and teaching how to make all natural skin care products, soap, shampoo and conditioner bars, that use ingredients from the farm.
Throughout history, lavender has been used to lift spirits, ease anxiety, and encourage restful sleep. California’s Mediterranean climate has allowed Rosie to grow lavender.
Many of the world’s crops are pollinated by insects. We immediately think of bees as they are often assumed to be the most important pollinators. But wait... there are heaps of other important pollinators! Rosie has designed the farm as a haven for all types of pollinators that have found a home there.
