Jean Thomas

Although Jean did not grow up with a connection to farming, she was drawn to agriculture by the pure beauty of rural life and has dedicated her life to cultivating a thriving livelihood on the land. Today, she channels that appreciation into producing delicious tree fruit and fostering a welcoming community space.

Her farm is a diverse, creative hub where visitors stop by not just for fresh fruit, but also for livestock, art, and custom wreaths. As a woman in agriculture, she believes women bring a distinct, highly social and creative perspective to food systems, blending beauty and utility seamlessly. Her deep expertise and commitment to the industry were recognized when she was honored as Farmer of the Year at EcoFarm.

Over more than five decades, solving ongoing agricultural puzzles like rodents and fire blight has taught her valuable lessons in resilience. She wishes more people truly understood just how hard farming is behind the scenes. Through every challenge, her journey stands as a testament to the enduring rewards of hard work, artistic expression, and a lifelong connection to the land.
